End of the Year News from Luthvarian
Hello friends!
Life has been chaos for the last two months for a number of reasons, but hey, when is it ever NOT chaos? As we move toward the new year, I wanted to share some of the news we’ve had recently.
PLY Magazine News
For years, many of you have seen my articles in PLY Magazine. I’m proud to announce that I am the new technical editor and blog coordinator for PLY Magazine as of the end of October. What does a technical editor do? They check to make sure the content is accurate, clear, and concise. I plan to continue to write for both PLY and Spin-Off, so you’ll still see my name pop up in issues per usual, but I’ll also be looming in the background, making sure that the information that reaches you is good information. I will also be organizing and creating content for the PLY blog, so you notice my voice starting to creep into that channel as well.

Upcoming Events on the Farm
January 4 - Unwind: Spin-In - as long as the weather holds for us, we' will meet from 10-2 at our workshop. We break for a potluck lunch. Bring something to share if you’d like, or just come join us. This is a free event that happens every month.
March 1 - Seed Exchange - this falls during one of our regular spin-ins and is a collaboration with the Kaw Point Fibershed. We’ll have fiber and dye plant seeds available. Bring your own to swap as well!
May 24 - Foraged Cordage & Basketry Workshop - Grounds manager Steven Condon will take us on a foraging hike. Then local expert Liz Bonny will teach us how to make cordage and basketry with our found goods.
Our full event calendar can be found here, which includes all of the away-from-the-farm conferences I’ll be teaching at as well.

The Studio
I mentioned this in my year-in-review, but when we bought our property just over a year ago, one of the features we were excited about was the Dilapidated (with a capital D) trailer that was on the property. We immediately got the siding and roof redone to weatherproof it. This year, we’ve slowly been gutting it, opening up walls and spaces for our use. As of this last week, the entire crawl space has been cleaned out and we’re working on putting in a vapor barrier. It won’t be too long until we can start the actual remodel portion of this.
The goal will be to create a filming studio, guest space for visiting teachers, and an open space where we can host classes, games, and a shop.
I will continue to share updates as we go along. It is a slow process, since the work is being done by myself, my husband, and a family friend, but it IS happening and I want you to know just how cool it is.
